President of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima Region

On Monday, September 20, 2021, Mr. Omarmorou was elected, on behalf of the National Rally of Liberals, as President of the Council of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region after obtaining 56 votes out of 63.

Chief duties:

Regional Council: Organic Law No. 14.111 relating to regions grants the elected president of the regional council broad powers to manage the affairs of his region.
He is essentially considered to be the one who orders the receipt of the region’s revenues and disburses its expenses. He presides over its council and calls for its regular and extraordinary sessions to be held. He also represents the region in an official capacity in all civil, administrative and judicial life activities and oversees its interests.
The President of the Council is also considered the sequential head of its employees, and he oversees the management of their affairs. He undertakes appointments to all positions, prepares the regional development program, regional design for preparing the territory, preparing the budget, and concluding contracts for works, supplies, or services.
